  1. It is a re-badged Cyberhome 1600. Apparently Walmart is no longer in business with Lite-on, for the ILO brandname.

wow, what I really wonder is if these are any better than the previous ilo dvdr04, I'm guessing since its a cyberhome clone, does that mean the problems with the front a/v inputs are probably gone now? Thats what I really hated about my 04, that and slp audio synch errors. Can the 05 be hacked? I hope someone can shed some light on how these compare

    edit
it would seem target/amazon sells this recorder for 109, but is out of stock

  4. I, too, have gone through 3 in the last 3 months. But talk about out of the frying pan and into the fire! Cyberhome?!!! My first experience was with a Cyberhome 1500 ( a buddy's that I borrowed). That's why I got an ILO! ILO has been bad, but Cyberhome is WORSE. Trust me, this new one is NO clone. It IS a Cyberhome. In sheep's clothing. Ugh!

Funny! I've had zero problems with my iLo dvdr04.

Never have used the front inputs and never plan to.

I've, also, had zero problems with my ILO DVDRHD04. Any issues that have come up can be traced to the operator In my case, Me. This ILo has never failed to burn a disk that can be played on any machine. or play any comercial or properly burned disk. With firmware upgrade 1195 and The Hack, the ILO can not be Beat. The more expensive, Parent, LiteOn is not any better.
By the way I have a Cyberhome, about 1 1/2 years old and an Apex, about 3 1/2 years old. Both have had no problems and will play any disk put in it. I've had other machines that weren't as good and cost considerably more. I also have a Combo Go Video VHS/DVD used with the ILO and in a motor home. It works great also

  7. What's odd is that I've used the front inputs, without any incident, whatsoever. I DID have the green tint issue, although it didn't really look green to me. It was more like grey skintones, in low-light scenes. Once I updated to the latest firmware......WOW! My video got WAY more vivid. Didn't realize just how bad my image had gotten, till then. Now, if only I can get this thing to continue to recognize discs it's brunt, I'll be okay.

  8. I bet that the 05 will not be as responsive as the 04 to any copy prtection protection hack. I think that the demise of the 04 can be attributed to this hack issue and the large number of unwarrented returns. The green tint issue was a problem with the ILO, only on playback, the recordinge were fine. Firware 1194 and 1195 fixed this. Removing just 1 instead of all the timer records and the lack of a button, Press-release-press for functions, especially erase, gripes me. Does the 05 correct this?

  9. Comparing the 04 to the 05 is comparing apples to oranges, because they are from different companies. That's like comparing the Pioneers to the Zeniths. Yeah, you CAN compare them, but don't be fooled into thinking that one is just the new inception of the other. The 04 was from Lite-on, the 05 is from Cyberhome. Simple as that.
As far as returns: You think Walmart saw returns with the 04s? Ha! Wait till the 05 get out on the market for a little while!

  10. Well I cant compare a Pioneer to a Zenith I've not had either DVD. I have A Zenith 15 inch LCD flat screen, its a TV-with Pic in Pic. PC monitor- etc. has 4 video inputs, RCA, S vedio and composte. I use it at my PC, of air, VHS/DVD recording and in a moter home. I would place its quality above many "quote" name brands. including Pioneer
I had a pioneer and a Sony CD recorder in my PC and they both gave a lot of trouble. I now have a, much used, no name CD recorder in the PC taken from a Compac PC. I also have a LiteOn DVD DL recorder in the PC. Both have never given me any trouble. Since I got the ILO DVDRHD04 I hardly use the PC and the LiteOn for video work
I cant speak about the 05 as I have not seen one. As Isaid I've had good luck with Cyberhome. Can the 05 be Hacked?

  12. The R04 is
    Region free via hidden menu
    Does PAL to NTSC
    Has a Macrovision hack
    Has pretty decent PQ
    And records.
    What more does anyone want?

  13. The only thing I don't like about the R04 is the remote.

  14. I got the DVDR05 yesterday... Why? I went to return the DVDR04 at Walmart because this week it was going to be 90 days since I got it and I didnt wanted to have a machine that might died

Anyways I miss the DVDR04, I think Im gonna get it on Walmart.com with a 3 year replacement plan so I dont have to worry about it

The only good thing about the DVDR05 is the chapter menu.. but You cannot insert a chapter, it has to be on the automatic mode, and since most of the stuff Im transfering its concerts, it sucks because I like to make a chapter for each song... Also If you press PAUSE and then restart recording that would be another chapter. And you cannot erase anything from a DVD+R disc which sucks because sometimes I like to erase some stuff on the discs... My advice is DOnt get this recorder if you like to insert chapters on the DVD or erase "mistakes" you did on the Disc, Im going to return it in a few days and probably get the Lite on 5005 or the ILO DVDR04...

No player can erase a DVD+R. You have to have an RW disc to be able to erase.

^he might have meant that it doesnt erase the title from the disc (you can do that on the 04, but can't regain the space)
