You need to make sure this tickbox is ticked:

and then select your burner as the backup target here:

... to burn with Nero. Or alternatively you can select this option:

and this will burn with DVDDecrypter.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Burn with decrypter instead of Nero

  4. @guns1linger: I know that you don't like Nero; but I think that Nero as a burning program is quite good. My belief is that it is the other components in the Nero Suite that are not so good. Any reason to 'why not burn with Nero' apart from 'paying extra for another progie when the functionality is already available somewhere else'?

Agreed, the burning only app is OK. But even it has bloated out of proportion with it's value after version 5.5. Decrypter has such a small footprint in comparison. It's limitation is that it is ISO only, which is fine for Shrink, but no good for general burning. If you have Nero because it came OEM with your drive, great. I'm no longer convinced that it is worth the money to upgrade to the full version any more. I am also suspicious of any software that has an endless stream of point releases in very close succession, as Nero did for a while (and possibly still does). To me this smacks of chaotic design and poor testing. If they were organised, your would see no more than one point release a month, with very few bugs.

Unless you really NEED DVD Decrypter to rip a stuburn disk, you could have simply used Shrink for the rip/transcode directly to the target size. Rather than rip to full size and then shrink ro target size. As was mentioned already, set your settings in shrink to burn with either Nero or Use shrink to rip/transcode to and ISO and burn that ISO with either Nero or DVD Decrypter. It's pretty much automatic.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

Using Shrink alone is much slower and puts a greater strain on your DVD ROM/Burner. I can rip to the HDD in 8 minutes, then re-author in 3 more, assuming no compression is required, then burn back to DVD in another 14 and a bit (4x). To do all this in Shrink alone takes almost 40 minutes, with the DVD burner going the whole time. It's even worse if it needs to compress the disk. Personally, I always use decrypter to rip.

    I'm with guns1linger on this ...

I've experienced enough ripping failures in DVDShrink to just use DVDDecypter as a first step, every time. Just habit now, I guess ...
    If in doubt, Google it.

  9. gunsl1inger is correct. By ripping with DVD Decrypter first a lot of strain on the DVD ROm is saved. This way the DVD ROM will last much longer.

First time I've pretty much agreed with everybody on a post. We all must be getting smarter, or I'm getting dumber. I ran across a couple guys at a MicroCenter store last month and they were discussing Shrink. One rattled off 3 or 4 recent movies he couldn't rip with Shrink and was shopping for XCopy-type programs. Always the one to butt in where possibly not wanted, I suggest using Decrypter since I had backed up a couple of the movies he mentioned. Gave him the link and a couple of days later he emailed me that Decrypter worked on all of the "problem movies".

I always use Decrypter to rip, Shrink to compress to ISO and call Decrypter for the burn. Free, works perfectly everytime.

For everyday burning I use CDBurnerXP Pro (also free). I'm on an anti-bloatware crusade so I've dumped Nero, CD Creator, and all Symantec products.
