I diligently searched and can't find answer.
I just successfully recorded streaming realtime from miniDV camcorder to DVDRW through Conexant TV capture card successfully using a Fry's PC w/ XP and bundled Intervideo WinDVDR app. (I think that's the name).
It generated a "VOT" file which I presme is like a VOB file. And it plays back fine on my computer. I now want to copy it from the DVDRW to a DVD + or - R and be able to play it on a standalone DVD player.
Could somebody please tell me how to do this ?
I'm guessing the WinDVDR function is essentially a TIVO kinda thing acting like a VCR or drag 'n drop like InCD and is simply intended to be re-recorded over just to timeshift capture TV programs for playback and not to make a permanent copy to DVD. And it serves that function fine. I just like it as a quick way to capture my old video off miniDV or VHS onto at least some form of DV disk in real time so I can at my leisure later convert from DVDRW to DVD.
Only problem is I don't know how.
Thanks for any explanation of what's going on. BTW I am fairly experienced at capturing, authoring, and burning DVDs, but this streaming video capture thing is new to me, so I'm clueless.
And BTW is there any way to capture in real time directly to a DVD + or - R without using a DVDRW as the interim step with the equipment I've got ?
Thanks.
Bob

Thanks for responding. I will check it out as you suggest.
In the meantime, assuming I screwed up about the "VOT" and that the files generated were "normal" for what I was doing, have you got any answer to the general question, e.g. if I captured as indicated with Intervideo WinDVR and ended up with a DVDRW which was burned in real time, what do you do to change it to a DVD playable on a set top ? Was there some "close disk" or "close session" option I didn't select, do I have to put the video file in some video_ts file structure and then make a data disk copy to DVD + or - R, or what ?

Sorry my mistake, they are ".BUP" files. But there are .VOB files from the capture that play fine on the PC, so I'm back to the original question. How do you get these .VOB files off a DVDRW and on to a DVD in a file structure that will play on a set top DVD player ? I have five of these .VOB files, each about 910 MB in files labeled VTS_01_x.VOB where x is a number from 1 to 5, and they are in a file named Video_TS, along with video_ts.bup, vts_01_0.bup, video_ts.vob, and video_ts which is aparently some sort of recorder.playback function.
Thanks for any help.

These files are already DVD. Did you try to play the DVDRW in settop player?
If the player doesn't support RW DVD's (mine doesn't) you can use DVDDecrypter ISOread/ISOwrite function. -
Thanks ! I'll be darned. It did not play in my DVD player, but I tried another one and it DID. That's fine for home, but still doesn't solve the problem since I need to make 15 DVD reliable copies for a lacrosse team.
What is it about DVDRW that makes it play in some DVD players and not in others ? Just a media reading issue (e.g. are the files identical on a DVD and a DVDRW) or is there something in the file(s) themselves when burned to a DVDRW that would make them different from if burned to a DVD-R ?
Can I just make a Video_TS file, copy the .VOB files under it, and burn the Video_TS file to a DVD-R or does the DVDDecrypter do something magic to these .VOB files on a DVDRW ? What does DVDDecrypter do in my instance ?
And is there some way to burn in real time to a DVD-R in the first place with my equipment (PC and internal DVD burner and maybe some new software ?) and avoid the DVDRW hassle in the first place ? (I know Sony and Phillips make dedicated external devices to do so but I'd like to avoid new purchases).
Thanks again for responding so quickly. I really appreciate your time. It's just that I've never run into this need (quick way to get 15 lacrosse tapes directly onto DVD from miniDV without having to author them). I've done plenty of successful regular miniDV -> DVD projects but never tried to capture in real time directly to a DVD-R. -

The files must be written with UDF structure. From the sound of things, this may not be proper UDF structure.
Using InCD to burn is the problem.
You need to burn with a DVD-Video template in Nero or RecordNow. Roxio is worthless.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

How could you tell I am using InCD ? Is that what my InterVideo WinDVR uses ? I have Nero 6.6 but seem to recall it didn't like to burn the .VOB files.
So do I understand correct that I first fix the files with DVDDecrypter and then burn with Nero ? If so, its getting to the point that I might as well just capture conventionally into Ulead Video Studio or Pinnacle Studio 8 as a conventional project and make a conventional DVD straighforward (which is what I was trying to avoid in the first place by a making a real time copy to DVDRW and "simple" burn or conversion to DVD-R or finding some other software that allows real time burns to DVD-R- does such an animal exist ?????) BTW, thanks for responding !
