  1. I have a dvd which was originally record by a Philips stand alone. It plays fine, but I am unable to copy or rip the data from it. I've tried dvd decrypter, Alcohol 120% and Isobuster in trying to extract the data. Do anyone have any special tricks to tame this problem child?

Exactly what happens when you try to copy or rip? Erros messages? Computer shutdown?

Have you tried just a plain copy to your hard drive in Windows Explorer or My Computer?

  3. No that's the one thing I haven't tried. Isobuster stays on 0% copied and error messages keep popping up, shrink says disk has an improper structure, decrypter stops with a fatal error and 120% states there were fatal errors. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try it.

  4. It's a no go copying from windows explorer also. I get a read error. I'll try to copy the vob files only and rebuild the dvd.

Both DVDShrink and DVDDecrypter solved the DVD Recorder disc problems "versions ago". Make sure you have the latest versions. If you do...the disc may have errors on it OR it wasn't done in a Philips recorder....maybe a Cyberhome or something....those can be a pain sometimes.

  6. Maybe your drive just doesn't like the particular media. Try another DVD-ROM drive if you have one or can get a friend to try copying it for you!

I've got the latest versions of both. Alcohol 120% details that the disk was from a philips recorder.

I'll give it a try although it plays the disk just fine.
