  1. I have a newly purchased SAMPO 620. I flashed back the BIOS to the previous version in order to have macrovision and all the hidden menus. Everything works fine.

I'm trying to create SVCD and xSVCD. They play fine onthe player as well. Except, I have no luck with FF and REW. Was anyone successful with this player with the function FF and REW with VCD, SVCD and xSVCD?

    HOW?

    Thanks.

  2. DrJOnes666,
This happens when you use Nero to author. Sampo is not the only player with this problem. It was asked in this forum numerous times, may be that's the reason nobody bother to answer anymore.
To solve the FFW and REV problem:
    Create a Textfile called Scandata.dat
Type the following in the file: SCAN_VCD and nothing else.
Copy it to the Ext-Folder in the Nero SVCD-Template, burn the video CD.
Now FFW and REV will work, however this will defeat your Search or GoTo function. The choice is yours.

If you want to keep the go/to feature you can try this method:

If a menu is not that important you can use VCDImagerGUI. To have all the features i.e. FF/FREW/GOTO etc.

  4. Unfortunatly, the SCANDATA.DAT trick doesn't work for me... So I'm really stuck, and it kindda sucks because FF & REW is a very important feature...

  5. DrJOnes666,
It should work for you, as I have the Sampo DVE-620 player as well, and it works. Are you sure you did everything right?
    Again in more detail:
    1. Open note pad
    2. Type in only SCAN_VCD
    3. Save as Scandata.txt and close
    4. Rename the file Scandata.txt to Scandata.dat
    5. In Nero, double click and open the Ext-Folder in the (S)VCD template in the top left
    6. Copy the Scandata.dat file and paste it into the Ext-Folder
    7. Then proceed to write the video CD

  6. Thanks... but I really did all that and the FF and REW still don't work.

  7. I have a Sampo 620 and had similar problems with FF/REW and Go To. Here is what I did to fix it:

    1) I encode my miniDV avi with TEMPGenc 12h using standard SVCD format
    2) Use VCDimager 6.2 GUI to create bin/cue files
    3) Use Nero 5.5.2.4 image burner menu to burn (select all files *.* and then select the yourfile.cue file)

Works with my 620 for FF/REW and Go To Functions. Even get correct elapsed and remaining time displays!! My SVCDs now work like my VCDs

PS if you use 352 x 480 @ 2520kbps, you will not get blockiness in SVCD.

  8. Thanks for your tips Dave!
    I will try that...
One thing I hate though is to have to use TmpgENC. I always use LIGOS from Premiere because I find it so user friendly.

Maybe I'll try with LIGOS + VCDimager and see what it does...

    Thanks again.
