  1. I borrowed a couple of burned DVD's from my friend and when I tried to rip them to my hard drive, I got and cylic redundency error. The discs are spotless and I tried DVDShrink, DVD Decrypter, and Nero 6. I have a Toshiba burner and my friend has a new Sony DL burner. His burns at 16x and mine only burns at 2.4x. I thought that speed would have something to do with it so I told him to burn a movie at 4x and he got Burn Attempt Failed message or something like that when he used Nero 6. He also used DVDShrink to rip the DVD. What could be the problem?

Try use the scandisc in nero cd dvd speed and see if you can read the entire media. The media could be crappy and it doesn't work on some dvds.

  3. Try reading them in a different drive, ie DVD-ROM drive.

Are you sure that your friend Finalized the disks? Failing to Finalize a DVD allows very few if any other DVD drives the ablility to read them.

  5. if the errors are of CRC type they are most likely not because of unfinalized disks. Your friend should use higher quality media or some media that works better in his drive. Tell him to visit www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia

  6. All right thanks for all of the feedback. I didn't try different media but when I used my old DVD-ROM drive, it could rip most of the DVD's, but not all of them This pretty much convinces me that it is his media.
