Just noticed that my brand new 642 can't apparently decode AC-3 audio from Mpeg-2 ISOs which are produced from Womble Video Wizard. It also won't play straight VROs burned onto a DVD- or + RW. Odd that I would have to have Mpeg-2 audio or author into DVD for them to play. Anyone else have this problem?

Nope butI can play AC3 audio from avi files through my receiver but I can't play DTS audio from avi files. The DVD player just passes the audio to my receiver though which decodes the sound.
One annoying I found out was that when I try to play dual audio MPEG-1 ISOs I got from some VCDs of mine it can't seperate the audio channels so I get two different languages at once but it can seperate them fine when I play the VCDs. -
Bummer that. Guess I'll have to look around for another player since I have 46 rewriteables with Mpeg-2 and AC-3 audio that this can't play...

At first I thought this player was incompatible with the audio in my raw MPG, VRO, or VOBs. Then I found the trick!
Have you tried the audio channel selection button (bottom right corner) on the remote control during playback?
I found my MPGs and VROs with AC-3 audio would play the audio after I selected the correct audio channel 80 or C0 for tivo extracted files. At first I was lost on what to do other then fully author out everything, but after I pressed the audio button on the remote and found the trick I was convinced this player could handle any file thrown at it. This feature should really be noted in the manual. After I stopped on each channel for a few seconds A 0-7, C 0-7, 8 0-7, I found my audio and video were both there. My heart started beatting again after that!
Good luck! -

Just a guess ... -
Many thanks 4packsadvd. The setting for AC-3 audio playback is C80. Works great! Now I don't have to take the player back after all and the DVD rewriteables can be used in the 642.

And the setting for MPEG-2 file with MPEG audio is C0.
But I couldn't get MPEG audio from VOB file from DVD disk recorded on LiteOn 5001. -
I too stumbled across the "C0" audio fix. Is there a way to make it default to that setting when playing "mpeg" files?
