  1. I have a 4x DVD+R/ DVD+RW burner and use Sonic as my burning software. I've used 4x DVD+r with no problems. But now since I can only get 8x which are printable I use them with varying results. Some get the movies burned real good while some of the DVDs start skipping when played in DVD players.
I've changed dics companies but still end up with the same result. Any suggestions?

Try verbatim white hub printables. Do a search at a media store or google for this P/N 94812 ID. Media code is MCC.

  4. I thought it was the media. I have used a company called COPYME in the past and it worked pretty good, but those were 4x. The same company 8x does not work. And I did change companies, tried about 3 others with little success. U sure its not my DVD burner or DVD player?
The recorded 8x discs skip on my LG home theatre but not on my panny DVD recorder. However the LG and panny both play the 4x discs perfectly.

You could try burning your 8X discs at 4X.

Also don't discount your DVD player being the problem - I had an LG DV6812P and it exhibited similar problems, irregardless of what media I tried. Turned out it was a heat problem (I focused a desk fan directly in front of the DVD player and the problem immediately went away), and I also tried the exact same discs that were skipping in another player with no hassles whatsoever.

    YMMV.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  6. I'll try cooling the player with the fan, seems like an idea.
As for burning the 8x at 4x, my DVD burner is a 4x +R burner which means that the discs are being burned at 4x. I've also tried reducing the speed to 1x and it still exibited the same probs.
Also, someone told me that we should never burn video at anything above 4x - is that true??

no that is not true. I recentyly bought the benq1620 and I burn my 8x @ 12x and the play fine, scans show no errors, etc.. I haven't got my hands on any 16x media yet. When I do I'll send you a post about how they came out. That is unless someone gives you that info before me..

Also try upgrading the firmware of your DVD burner to the latest version.
