You will need to look to the left under Convert. Go from wmv to DVD.

Well, it sounds like you burned your files as a data disk. Movie files have to be converted to proper resolution MPG files which are then authored and after processing to AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders, are burned as a DVD

Should I download dvd shrink to convert the wmv files to mpg. Will it automatically authorize it? I did use it as a data disc, which only plays on my computer. I wanted to play it in my dvd player

DVDShrink can't help you just yet.

Unless you are extremely fortunate and your DVD player plays MPEG4 (Divx or XviD) - check www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers to see - then you must encode your WMV file to dvd-compliant MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 - see What is DVD ? for the specs. Then you must author this MPEG-2 file into IFO, BUP and VOB files inside a VIDEO_TS folder.

Now in order to do all this, you have some options:

    1) Do the process completely manually in a couple of different programs, having full control over every last setting so that you get the perfect (or as close as you can get to perfect when compared with your source) output. If this sounds like it might be for you, http://members.dodo.net.au/~jimmalenko/AVI2DVD.htm can possibly guide you. Or you could try one of the other encoders listed at https://www.videohelp.com/tools?s=40#40 , and then one of the authoring sofwares listed at https://www.videohelp.com/tools?s=2#2 .

    2) Use 1-2 programs that "dummy it up" for you and integrate the two processes of encoding and authoring into one so that you don't have to learn much - just drop the file into it and leave it to its own devices, but also leaving you with little control. If this sounds more your style, then one of the tools at https://www.videohelp.com/tools?s=35#35 can help you - I believe VSO DivxtoDVD is possibly the best option in this case.

    3) Go to the guides section at www.videohelp.com/guides and choose "WMV to DVD" in the conversions drop-down, or just click here. Choose a guide and follow it.

And once you've sorted all that out, http://members.dodo.net.au/~jimmalenko/NeroExpress.htm can help you with burning your final output properly.

Also, here's some definitions that might come in handy:

Oh, BTW ........ you got a lotta reading to do ...
    If in doubt, Google it.
