hey there folks, and THANK YOU MAJOR for this amazing program-it's allowing me to send dvd's of my newborn to my parents half the world away.

anyway, a dvd i authored stutters when i play it on my home dvd player. the VIDEO_TS folder on my hard drive plays fine on Apple's dvd player, though.

i am using my wife's windows laptop's dvd burner to burn the movie.dvd folder (i know, i know, windows). any thoughts as to possible causes?

    any help is appreciated

nope, no label of any kind-not even written. the media is Fuji brand. any experiences with it?

    thanks for the reply!

fuji brand media has always worked well for me. you might try a different type though.

it may be a faulty dvd player laser, or faulty dvd burner..

how does the burned dvd player on the computer? PC drives tend to have better lasers than dvd players.. so if it plays okay in there then its probably your dvd player or crappy media.

i'll try it in my laptop as soon as i get home-thanks!

  6. I think you just forgot to enable the 3:2 pulldown option. See, your computer can handle 23,976fps material, therefore it would't shutter. But your standalone player can only handle 29,98fps material. It would convert the 23,976fps material to the near 30fps by simply repeating some of the frames.

So be shure to enable the "3:2 pulldown during playback" option!

  7. This "3:2 pulldown during playback" option... is that in ffmpegX? Or on the DVD player? I'm running into a similar issue with Kung fu hustle. Sound is great, but video from a MOV is a tad choppy.

    Cheers

  8. If you are using mpeg2enc (which is better than ffmpeg) then simply enable the following option:

If you are using the ffmpeg mpeg2 encoder, than you have to use the following tool after encoding:

This only works if you have a .m2v file, so be sure to mux audio and video after you done this!

The screenshots are in german, but the english version has the options on the same spot.

lumis, doesn't play in the powerbook's dvd player either. i'm checking it with Nero cdspeed on the wife's laptop right now, so we'll see what that says-i'm thinking it just didn't burn well at 4x or, like rantanplan said, i didn't enable the 3:2 pulldown thing.

rantanplan, thanks for your help too. it's not really that i forgot to enable the 3:2 pulldown thing, as much as i just didn't know to do it. i do now though, thanks.

all the help is great guys, many thanks!
