I have a generic dd-1205 dvd 12x burner. Looks like my dvd that play in some units wont play in others. Nero states disk is 31.63 gb....other disk burn in other burners shows only 4.26 gb (correct size).
I had the old firmare 100i....now upgraded to 120i...
anyone heard of this problem. seems like a fat problem on the disk. cannot duplicate disk in nero since it thinks the disk is too big.

Update and more mystery...updated firmware to 120i that did the trick or the new dd1205 generic 12x drive...but it seems like using only the old 6x toshiba dvd rom drive would detect the difference between two copies of the same dvd. The toshiba would show the bad disk under nero as having 31.63gb which also corresponds to that same dvd not working on some of my older dvd players.
My other dvd writers would not show 31.63gb......only the toshiba would. However, whenever the toshiba 6x dvd rom show the disk as having this much disk space....it work on some....and not on others.
After the firmware, it shows new disk burning at 4.26 (same media...same data...same encoder...same computer)...and now it works on all dvd players.
How can this be???? without my toshiba dvd-rom player....both disk look the same using different software. even regular windows explorer shows the same disk size for each dvd.
Thus, I use the toshiba to screen all dvd...ones with the 31.63 are recopied again....to be 4.26 gigs..and now work....I am baffled at this???
using nero test on PI errors shows very high pi errors on the dvd with the 31.63 range.....in the 500 plus...using a memorex dvd burner.....another way to see a difference between the dvd.
Very very strange..... -
The funny thing is that only my toshiba dvd-rom player will show under nero tools that disk lenght is 31.63 gb. It will NOT show under other DVD burners using Nero. They show the disk is normal. In fact, under scan disk they show the disk is normal too.
Of course...your thinking heck the toshiba is bad....but not really.
Any disk that shows 31.63db on the toshiba will not work on some of my DVD-R players. When the disk shows the normal size..it plays on everything.
Kind of weird. I know use DVD decryptor to burn and dont see that 31.63gb anymore....Is nero conflict with burner with service pack 2 on xp????
The only other possible issue is that this is on Windows XP service pack 2.
