  1. Hi. I use to play video with winamp. When I tried to play a video encoded with TMPGEnc and AC3 plugin it doesnt work. In windows media player it plays without audio. How to correct this?
    Thanks

I've seen regular comments that Windows Media Player is always a good choice for playing media files. In these instances, Ive seen VLC media player suggested, but I've never used it.

I assume you (still) have an AC3 codec installed...?

  3. Well, actually the only AC3 codec I installed is the TMPGEnc plug-in, so I suppose I have one.

    install AC3Filter.
    If in doubt, Google it.

You can check what codecs you've got installed with AVICodec. It lists all audio and video codecs, as well as other types that I can't remember.

I'm not sure if the plug-in includes a codec, or whether it's just to allow encoding to AC3 - I've never used it, and don't know anything about it.

jimmalenko's suggestion is a good one.

  6. It plays AC3 audio ONLY in TMPGEnc! AVICodec tells me that I have AC3 decompressor installed.

  7. I just installed AC3Filter but still the same problem: No video playing when encoding with AC3 audio....

In that case, I'd say you're set to play AC3 audio - so I'll say to try a different player.

I'd suggest that WMP can't use TMPGEnc's AC3 codec, hence the need to install AC3filter. You can always uninstall it if it doesn't work, right ?
    If in doubt, Google it.
