.MKV to .AVI with subtitles

i have 13 eps of anime in .MKV format with VARIABLE FRAMERATES how can i convert them into avi with subtitle

--> i tried VitualDubmod and i doesent want to take the .mkv files.

-->i tried using MKVextractGUI but the audi is out of sync by like 1 min when i put the files back together using either virtualdubmod or NVE3

-->i tried avi2dvd and it does not work at all it took 2 hours to recode a 197mb file to dvd format and it only recoded the first 40 secondsout of 29 min!!! nothing else

can someone plz help me out point me to a guide if there is any or anything

Personally I don't understand why you want to convert mkv to avi, because I think mkv is more powerful thatn avi in many ways. Anyhoo, here is a link:
