  1. I have an AVI file in XVid format that I'm trying to write to a DVD. The AVI plays on the computer with no problems.

When I try to create a DVD from this file, I have no audio. I have tried several different programs to no avail.

    HELP PLEASE!

  2. What programs have you used? what kind of Audio is in the Xvid?
You may have to convert the Audio to Wav using VirtualDub or somthing similar and use that in your program.

  3. Yeah you didn't mention what program you're using to do so. The easiest/quickest seems to be VSO DivxToDVD

  4. Okay, here's some more info:

I've used the VSO program. Odd thing here is that it seems to create everything ok, and I seem to be able to write the DVD okay (it plays on the computer), but then the disc is not recognized by my DVD player. Not recognized at all.

How do I determine what audio is in the file?

  5. VirtualDub saves a "compressed" WAV. Converting this compressed WAV directly to AC3 may be frowned upon by some standalone DVD players; I know my Pioneer wouldn't like it but it would play fine on my Samsung. Convert the compressed WAV to an uncompressed WAV and then convert the uncompressed WAV to AC3.
