Alright, i have DVD Architect 5.0 and i have about 6 Xvid format AVI files and I want to burn the to a DVD, and for some reason when import them they don't have sound. I use ffdshow Rev3013 for codecs, and i've tried editing settings and it wont work, I cannot get sound to work in DVDA. Sound works fine in Media Player Classic thought. any help? thoughts? or ideas? any would be greatly appreciated.

  2. welcome to the forum.

dvd architect is an authoring program only. is your intent to create a dvd that plays in a standalone dvd player? if so you must first convert the xvids to dvd spec mpeg-2 and ac3/wav/or mp2 audio.

  4. converting videos to dvd spec is an encoder's job. try mediacoder, avidemux, vlc, thefilmmachine, etc.... there are bunches in the tools section.

or sony vegas if you have that to go with sony architect.

DVD Architect will encode non-compliant material, however it's settings are far more restricted, and therefore the quality generally lower, than using a dedicated encoder or even Vegas. Vegas also does not like Xvid/Divx very much.

You are better off using AVStoDVD to output elementary streams that are DVD compliant, then using DVD Architect to author them into a DVD. You will get far better quality this way.

You can use AVStoDVD to encode and author your disc, complete with menus, or have it encode to elementary streams so you can author with DVD Architect. It depends on what your authoring needs are.
