    hi
Just bought a copy dvd of a mate at uni (by the way i don't consider that illegal cause it was a copy of something i own an origional of - layer cake, wicked film but mine starts to jump near the end which is not a fitting end to such an excellent film. anyway since i own an origional copy and i can't burn dvd's myself i thought or rather i hope that there is nothing wrong with what i did and hope no-one throws me off this forum.
Anyway my problem is the quality and sound are great but there is one and a half pictures on the screen. It looks like a split screen only a bit more to the right and both play exactly the same film at the same speed.
Does anyone know why this is?

My guess is that it's a SVCD mpeg authored as DVD, and your DVD player doesn't like that.

are there any tools i can use to maybe extract the picture and change it like clipping the extra bit off?
Actually saying that my pc plays the dvd fine so i probably wouldn't know where to clip it, anyway any help would be great.
    Cheers for replying

If my theory is correct: The mpeg is probably fine. It has been changed using svcd2dvdmpg or dvdpatcher, allowing the non DVD res mpeg to be accepted by the authoring app. Most DVd players plays this kind of off specs DVD fine - not all.
So, there's nothing to clip - it's your player that gets upset by the video.

If you cant burn DVDs, how would you be able to fix it anyway ? If you could, you would be better off using Shrink to create a decent quality backup of your original.
