Will the Sima SCC-2 color processor by-pass copy protection. The original SCC processor would allow me to make DVD-VHS copies for my childern to watch on their systems, they now have DVD players and the SCC processor is not effective anymore. I am using a Pioneer DVL-919 as a player and a Pioneer DVR-220-s as my recording unit. I am not making copies for profit, just ones for the children so that I can protect the originals. Young children don't take very good care of disc or tapes, I dont want to replace high dollar movies.

Get a DVD writer for your computer - it's much easier to backup your DVDs this way (it makes to the DVD-9 to DVD-5 issue easier to handle).

My computer is very dated, my processor speed and ram will not support DVD recording. I am just looking for a quick and simple hardware add-on. Thanks for your reply.

I've seen others with your specs burning DVDs, and a DVD burner costs a third what the SIMA corrector costs.
You can throw quick and simple out the window if you're gonna copy DVDs using a standalone. If God had intended us not to masturbate he would've made our arms shorter.

According to SIMA it will bypass copy protection and let you copy anything to anything.

I've read all of the info about the SCC-2, but I would like to hear from someone who has actually tried one out. Any positive or negative feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your reply.

There is no hardware that will "by-pass" DVD copy protection -- only software. Buy a $50 DVD writer and use DVD Decrypter (freeware) to strip the CP and burn. Your PC is fine, but it will take a little longer to decrypt (~ 45 minutes).

how 'slow' is your PC? I'm using a Duron 650 with 512 MB RAM and a 5400 rpm HDD and I can burn DVDs at 4x no problem (running Nero on Win XP)
If you still think SIMA is your way to go, a store that I frequent to is selling their display unit of SIMA SCC-1 (never plugged in, just displayed) in mint condition for only US$100. -
Get a DVD burner. No offense, but looking into this as a substitute for a DVD burner for your computer isn't logical. You can buy a GREAT DVD burner for $50 at this point. Your computer should support DVD burning, even not if at the burner's full burn speed.
