Has anyone tried to play a DVD or Divx or VCD on a computer and recorded it onto a DVD using an external full-size DVD recorder (Go-Video). I have a firewire card on the PC and connected it to the firewire input on the GoVideo but the DVD recorder does not pick up the signal from the PC. If anyone has done this successfully, please help. Thanks.

My only experience is with a Pioneer recorder and a Mac. The Firewire import from the computer only works when the source signal is DVC-SD format (in other words, the same format as a digital camcorder). In order to play a DVD, Divx or VCD into the Pioneer via Firewire I would first have to convert the video in the computer to DV format.

  4. well, I have recorded video from my computer onto vcr using the output from an ATI card. It uses S-Video and standard rca audio jacks. I just played the video at full screen on my pc and the recording actually looked good....like a high quality vhs capture.

So, I'm not sure why that wouldn't work as well for a dvd-recorder....just using the inputs suppied for a s-video vcr. Or simple composite video for that matter.

If so, I would assume there are several different video capture cards with video-out that would do the job.

  5. It would work if you used "composite video" or "S-Video". But not firwire. Only a few DVD Recorders can do this.
