Hello, I'm debating on buying either a USB Thumbdrive or an SD Card w/ adapter (reader/writer), and I need help figuring out which to buy. (Either one I pick, the memory will be 1 GB)

If I go with the SD Card, I can use it for data right? The reason I ask, is because about a year or 2 ago, I tried using an SD Card to put data on and it gave me a "Data Cycle Redundancy" error, all the time. But... it could've just been a defective card.

If I choose a SD Card, I can put in a digital camera and have extra storage, but... I cannot do that with a Thumbdrive.

I would choose a Thumbdrive, because they usually need no drivers, so I can use it everywhere (Win XP), and its nice and small.

But what I really like is the SD Card, because I can use it with a digital camera. I cant do that with a Thumbdrive.

Is there any product out there, with the following features?:

USB Thumbdrive, with SD Card Reader/Writer, that needs no driver, and is small just like other Jumpdrives (can put on keychain)? Also if it had a mp3 player built in, that would be GREAT!

If anybody could help me out here, I would appreciate it alot!

I can't remember who it is (Google might help), but someone actually makes a USB Flash drive that you can put an SD card in, so it's not limited to any one size. Plus, you can take out the SD card and use it in other devices.

    The Lexar Jump Drive Trio.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

Thanks, it seems perfect, but it has some bad reviews. Is there anything almost similar to that, that you know of?

Oh, and as for my error with the SD Card a while back, that wasn't suppose to happen right?

  5. ooo also another idea thow it won't work with a camera, is to but a cheap hard drive for 50-60, which will be about 20 more than a card if i am remembering prices right. then build yourself a nice exclosure or buy one(prob another 10-20) then u good to go, and they hook up threw usb. u will have lots more stoage space but you will also need bigger pockets. another idea its gettings some 8mm cd-rw?'s i find them to be pretty handy.

Yeah, I thought about a USB Hard drive, but I need drivers when I want to plug it into other computers. That Trio is perfect, but I hear its cheap, and can crack real easy. I don't think it has keychain thing either.

Really? I didn't know that... Hmmm... I might very well consider that as an option then.

How about that error though with the SD Card, Data Redundancy Cycle thing, was that because SD cards cannot take anything other than pics, and mp3's? Or was it possibly a defective card?

Nope, just like a hard drive, floppy disk, CDRw, usb thum drive or any other storage medium, you can store any kind of data on a SD/MMC card. I guess in your case either the card was faulty, or there was an incompatibility between the card and reader (which is more common thon most people realise)

    Oh ok... Hmmm....

Most likely I will get a 1 GB SD Card, and a Lexar Trio or something similar to that.

Does that sound good? Would most recommend me to get that?

I would get the Hard Drive, but I like the fact that SD Cards & Thumbdrives are nice and small and usually can be used on a keychain.

Lexar Trio is a card reader, yes.

I will think it over, and I'll figure out exactly what I want.

Thanks everyone that helped me out, I really appreciate it!!!
