which home theatre system is the best for reading backed up dvd...i would like the most reliable system.
please help

Reliable and box systems don't belong together, always better to buy seperate.

Any dvd player made these days should have no problem reading - or + r dvd's. Now DUAL LAYER recordables are another issue. There are apparently still plenty of compatibility issues. But single layer should play just fine on any new dvd player.
But I do agree with samijubal, buy the components seperately. You'll be able to get exactly what you want and get better quality pieces.
