  1. Dear community, dear developer,
unfortunately my freshly bought SVCD2DVD v2.0 RC1 crashes during startup. I have never seen the main program window. Uninstall and reinstall does not solve the problem.

I receive 3 consecutive error messages (in German):

Well the error occurs when trying to determine the "Program files" directory.

A couple of questions. What is the "Program files" directory path on your PC? Do you have administative permissions on the PC? And do you have DV DDecrypter installed?

  5. Thank you very much for your quick response ChrissyBoy !

    Concerning your questions:
Yes, I have DVD Decrypter installed.
    Yes, I have administrator rights.

Ok, I fixed the problem ! The problem was my default "Program Files" path. I used Microsoft TweakUI to change it from C:\Program Files to D:\. I have the root directory of D:\ for my Program Files.
After your question about my default directory for Program Files I went into RegEdit and checked
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version
    and there the ProgramFileDir key.
    ProgramFileDir was set to D:
What I did now, was simply adding a backslash.
Now ProgramFileDir is set to D:\

Voilą, SVCD2DVD v2.0 RC1 works ! Really funny, because I am using my Windows XP installation now already since XP was released and I never ran into problems with the missing backslash. Your program somehow "found" it now .

Excellent news. I suppose the issue was that d: is not a path yet d:\ is in the pedantic world of the .Net framework!

    Thanks for the update.

  7. Hello ChrissyBoy,

it is now already 3 months ago but lately I found out that it seems to be correct to have D: and not D:\ as a value in the before mentioned registry entry.

    Problem:
SVCD2DVD crashes when not having a backslash behind the drive letter entry in the registry. I described the problem in my postings above.
The WISE installer has a double backslash when having a backslash behind the drive letter in the registry.

Question: Who is wrong, WISE installer or SVCD2DVD ?

ChrissyBoy: Could you implement a small fix for this problem in the next beta release of SVCD2DVD ?
