Hello all. A friend of mine has a bunch of family videos in VCR format. He wants to put them all into DVD-R or DVD+R. What is the best way? Any requirements?
he Just bought a Dell P4 computer with 512 MB of memory, 40 Gig HD, and he wants to use most of his computer's potential.
Please suggest the lowest costly method.
Thanks

Your friend has four options:
1.Use a analog-to-digital converter or camcoder with analog pass-through to transfer via firewire(best),cost $150-300US.
2.Use a standalone recorder(better),cost $200US.
3.Use a PCI capture card(good),cost $50-150.
4.Use a USB capture device(poor),cost $30-75.
Since your friend only has a 40GB HDD I would recommend 2 or 3.
