    Hi

I have an Xvid MPEG4 video file that has AC3 audio. I'm trying to convert it into a DVD.

I've got Sonic MyDVD which claims to be able to burn a DVD retaining AC3 sound. I've checked the options and I've got it set to Dolby Digital. However when I burn a DVD the audio is only stereo.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks

  2. You mean 2 Channel AC3? Not 5.1 AC3>? If so there is nothing wrong with whats happening to your file.

  4. Dont let it encode the Audio. Its down mixing it to 2 Channel AC3." This is a guess" I havent used MyDVD before, But I cant see it encoding the seperate Audio file's other then it is Down mixing to 2 Channel's.

Demux your Audio, then Encode your video and Re-mux the Audio back in.

Thanks - is there a one stop piece of software that can do this or do I have to go down the VirtualDub, TMPGenc, IFoedit route?

  6. I think you can just demux the ac3 in virtualdub,Most DVD Authoring software will let you import the Audio and the Video as elementary streams, and it will Mux them for you,Or take your newly Encode Mpg and Mux it with Tmpgenc.

Got hold of Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.5. This has a feature called DivX-to-DVD which takes the video file and converts it into a compliant DVD file stucture maintaining the AC3 5.1 audio. Nice!
