I am.
It seems lately there have been alot of posts asking:"I downloaded this movie" and "how do I convert and get the best quality".

You were expecting maybe recipe's for chocolate walnut brownies?
It's only going to get worse, as about 5 million more people figure out how to download illegal movies every day.Cheers, Jim

It is slightly annoying to see just about every question: I have an Xvid that want to put on DVD...?
And don't try to tell me it's a video of your sister's wedding. If you knew how to convert a video of your sisters wedding to Xvid, there's a good chance you should know how to convert it to DVD. -
I couldn't care less what kind of conversion people want help with. As long as it is not blatantly warez, if I can help, I will.
If you don't like a post, ignore it.There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that understand binary... -

As broadband is getting cheaper, more people are getting high speed internet. Which does possibly mean more people downloading movies.
As long as there is no mention of illegal downloading, there should be no problem.
As bugster states, dont like a post, ignore it.
Like i said, this is a video help site. Anything video related goes here as long as no warez is involved. -
I don't mind helping others but it annoys me when the poster gets mad that he(or she) can't convert the audio, the audio is out of synch or the end result looks like crap.
Video Noobology 101:
1.Crap in...crap out:if the source is poor quality then the end result will be also.
2.Read the guides:many members have submitted guides to almost every video problem there is if you look hard enough.
3.Try different programs:what works for one person may not work for another.
4.Don't get angry:when posting a question be patient and thankful of the advice...even if it doesn't help.
5.Share the wealth:If you find a fix to a problem share it with others...and make a donation here. -

guess I should listen to bugster and ignore threads that I'm not keen on reading as these moaning about stupid threads 'threads' will never go away. It's just a vicious circle I suppose as I normally help noobs no matter how stupid the question -
I get annoyed when people flagrantly "disregard" the forum rules, but so long as they're prepared to do the reading and experimentation (as we all have done), then I don't see a real problem. It's those that want someone to babystep them through it or do it for them that get my goat, especially when all the information you could possibly want is either here or at www.google.com.
If in doubt, Google it. -
It has overpowered the people that want help converting home movies and VHS, etc. And that sucks. Downloads are rather poor quality, even compared to VHS.

Yes I think that there may have been an increase in warez/download type questions. No it doesn't bother me too much. (I just skim by them) I do think that during registration maybe there should be like the rules posted and an explaination of why and what it means and then a check box beside each one for the new user to check off before being able to log on. Maybe a rubber stamp PM to violators explaining the details of the particular rule they broke. I don't know, some people may never catch on and it will be an up hill battle.
The main thing would be for the old timers not to get too upset about it, it is gonna happen. A polite nudge in the right direction should be the first responce by a mod or member and the harsher stuff should be left to the mods to take care of. While it may really annoy some, try not to let it enterfere with your enjoyment of this site or if it really bothers you starrt a rant threadIS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT? -
Since when were downloaded movies not warez?
I recall someone asking a year or so ago about where they could legitimately download movies - theatrical releases not someone's skateboard antics on their own website - and no one could think of a source.
Double standards?Regards,

So, unless the OP says the file name is something like "Hitchhikers.cam.divx.avi", then we cannot assmume warez, it would be unfair to do so. If you aren't happy with a post, report it or ignore it. Don't forget all those public domain movies made by church groups on P2P ... or ... so ... I've ... heard ...

Sooo...I downloaded Kill Bill Volume 3 yesterday, it's in DivX format...can I burn that straight to DVD or do I need to convert it first? and if I need to convert, how do I do that?

The conversion questions do not bother me. As mentioned several times, I usually just skip by those threads. Besides, if someone can't read a guide and figure out "how to convert"I'm pretty sure whatever I say will not be understood.

northcat_8, i thought that was a real warning, until i read your post.
