  1. I am.
It seems lately there have been alot of posts asking:"I downloaded this movie" and "how do I convert and get the best quality".

It's only going to get worse, as about 5 million more people figure out how to download illegal movies every day.

It is slightly annoying to see just about every question: I have an Xvid that want to put on DVD...?

And don't try to tell me it's a video of your sister's wedding. If you knew how to convert a video of your sisters wedding to Xvid, there's a good chance you should know how to convert it to DVD.

  5. I couldn't care less what kind of conversion people want help with. As long as it is not blatantly warez, if I can help, I will.

If you don't like a post, ignore it.

As broadband is getting cheaper, more people are getting high speed internet. Which does possibly mean more people downloading movies.

As long as there is no mention of illegal downloading, there should be no problem.

As bugster states, dont like a post, ignore it.

Like i said, this is a video help site. Anything video related goes here as long as no warez is involved.

I'm sick of reading to all the moaning about this type of subject all the time regarding people asking stupid questions

it will never go away, so why bother moaning about it? P

guess I should listen to bugster and ignore threads that I'm not keen on reading as these moaning about stupid threads 'threads' will never go away. It's just a vicious circle I suppose as I normally help noobs no matter how stupid the question

I get annoyed when people flagrantly "disregard" the forum rules, but so long as they're prepared to do the reading and experimentation (as we all have done), then I don't see a real problem. It's those that want someone to babystep them through it or do it for them that get my goat, especially when all the information you could possibly want is either here or at www.google.com.
    If in doubt, Google it.

It has overpowered the people that want help converting home movies and VHS, etc. And that sucks. Downloads are rather poor quality, even compared to VHS.

Because people still come to me with "gee look what I have, isn't that great quality?" which I almost always follow up with "No."

Where can I get DVD Decrapper? Does it work with P2P or rented VHS?

Yes I think that there may have been an increase in warez/download type questions. No it doesn't bother me too much. (I just skim by them) I do think that during registration maybe there should be like the rules posted and an explaination of why and what it means and then a check box beside each one for the new user to check off before being able to log on. Maybe a rubber stamp PM to violators explaining the details of the particular rule they broke. I don't know, some people may never catch on and it will be an up hill battle.

The main thing would be for the old timers not to get too upset about it, it is gonna happen. A polite nudge in the right direction should be the first responce by a mod or member and the harsher stuff should be left to the mods to take care of. While it may really annoy some, try not to let it enterfere with your enjoyment of this site or if it really bothers you starrt a rant thread
IS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT?

Since when were downloaded movies not warez?

I recall someone asking a year or so ago about where they could legitimately download movies - theatrical releases not someone's skateboard antics on their own website - and no one could think of a source.

    Double standards?
    Regards,

    Rob

    Recent top movies available, no.
But just because someone used the word 'download' it is not safe nor fair to automatically assume warez. Remember, there are quite a few porn site that allow downloading of full length divx/xvid version of DVD's and quite a lot of download only material (or so I hear ).

So, unless the OP says the file name is something like "Hitchhikers.cam.divx.avi", then we cannot assmume warez, it would be unfair to do so. If you aren't happy with a post, report it or ignore it. Do not jump on the poster just because the word 'download' or 'divx/xvid' was used.

Don't forget all those public domain movies made by church groups on P2P ... or ... so ... I've ... heard ...

Box office rankings lists are solely based on ticket sales ... so it would seem absurd to be charged admission for viewing something that is public domain, no ? I certainly wouldn't expect anything public domain to make any box office lists unless it was some sort of "free for the people" exercise in PR.

    ... and I'll anonymously corroborate bugster's porn story ...
    If in doubt, Google it.

Sooo...I downloaded Kill Bill Volume 3 yesterday, it's in DivX format...can I burn that straight to DVD or do I need to convert it first? and if I need to convert, how do I do that?

You are in breach of the forum rules and are being issued with a formal warning.

Before you reply, please observe our following forum rules

    Do NOT give warez.

Do NOT link to warez .

    Do NOT ask for warez.

Do NOT provide information how to obtain warez.

    Do NOT advocate warez.

    / Moderator bugster

The conversion questions do not bother me. As mentioned several times, I usually just skip by those threads. Besides, if someone can't read a guide and figure out "how to convert" I'm pretty sure whatever I say will not be understood.

...I'm on a dialup connection at home...I usually connect at 26.4 bps, with a download rate of 2.35 Kbps....it would take me 3 weeks to download a 4 GB movie.

To download Ulead DVD Workshop demo from Ulead's website once, 67.1 MB, I started the download on a friday night and it finished Monday around noon.

So...Northcat as a movie downloading pirate but now...if I had broad band Ah who am I kidding, if I had broadband, I'd just download pr0n movies
