I'm not sure where this post should go. I was browsing the internet looking for a place to buy DVD's for cheap. Something like BMGmusic service. I found this place http://www.crazy4dvds.com/store/index.php?ref=117 However it seems like they are just sending you burnt DVD's, not the originial. If anyone has heard of this place, please let me know if it is legitimate or not. Or if someone knows of a legitimate place to buy DVD's for cheaper, such as BMG Music Service does with CD's, please let me know. thanks.

Not legit. They are burned dvd's. A friend tried them a few weeks ago. The media was cheap. 2 of the 3 movies skipped about every 30 seconds. A complete scam. Just my 2 cents.

How are they even still running? Using some sort of loophole??

Well I think that BMG Music Service should expand there service to BMG Music/Movie Service
That place is great for saving money.

When these guys get nailed.....look out.
They will be in the can for a LONG TIME. -
Why isnt there a place like BMG Music except with Movies. its not like BMG has taken all the business away from music stores. The internet and things like Napster did that. So why isnt there something like that for movies??

There is an outfit in the US called Angry Mob who sell on ebay (they now have a local distributer in Australia as well). They sell DVD5 copies of legit product on the basis that there is no copyright holder in the regions they are selling, and until there is the works are considered public domain in those areas. The actual statement used in their ads is
"In accordance with Ebay procedures and guidelines I state that the works within are deemed to be in the public domain by the AMERICAN COPYRIGHT COUNCIL and THE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS within the U.S.A.. And in accordance with the BERNE ACT of 1928, in which Australia is governed by regarding copyright of said works, I am the sole owner of all works within VISUAL PAIN ENTERTAINMENT AUSTRALIA until copyright is regained within Australia.Any question regarding any matter of this product please email me before bidding to avoid dissapointment."
I understand this is slightly different to the case above, but must still be sailing very close to the wind. This is also made a mockery off by the fact that some if the items sold under this disclaimer are available as legitimate studio releases in Australia.Read my blog here.

Yeah, they're labeled "DVD-thisisn'taburntripoffcopybuttherealdeal".
Plus, they leave the hand out of the picture.

Does colombiahouse.com have monthly sales and what not like BMG does? I emailed them but figure I'd get a faster response here. It doesnt say exactly in their FAQ's

It's possible they're legit, they say they're all region so maybe the DVD's are for cruise ships or airlines.
Still I wouldn't chance it. -

They are clearly selling knockoffs and blatantly pirating DVDs. If you've dealth with them then report them to the Better Business Bureau and the MPAA. Sites like this only drive the price up for those retailers that are legitimate.
-
So you mean it might be legal to do that in China??
Check out the Band...feel free to PM me with opinions: http://www.purevolume.com/beneathitall -
No its not legal to do it in China. Its a violation of Chinese law and, regardless of where they conduct business its always going to be a violation of American law since these films are all obviously copyrighted in at least America. Its safe to assume China won't enforce their law against this company because they have a history of unenforcement and its safe to assume they won't enforce American Copyright law against them for the same reason, despite the fact that they are bound to by international treaty. The MPAA could still file suit in the US if they could get jurisdiction, which I'm sure they can get since they probably make alot of sales to the US, or they could use ICANN (International regulatory board governing websites) to get the site shutdown, but they will just setup a new one. They could also file a criminal complaint and try to get the US govt. to extradite them but will never happen, not with China.
Most likely the MPAA will eventually get through their backlog of To-Do's and address this site. They will register them with Customs to have all their products seized and they will get the site shut down. The company will change names and get a new web address. Rinse, wash repeat. -
Of course it's legitimate, especially since they've been selling The Aviator since Jan 31 and it doesn't even come out until May 24.
I just love this statement too-
Most of our DVD-5 DVDs contain the special features associated with your title. However, the DVD-5 format has some space limitations on the disk itself, and all special features may not be present depending on the title.
Our DVDs work with all players in all regions. -
There are places to get good prices on CD's, once again, BMG. So I figured why not DVD's too. At first I thought this place could be like that, untill I read DVD-5's. Then I questioned and started this topic to see if anyone heard of them before.

The only thing you have to keep up on is the monthly Director's selection, you must reply by a certain date or they will automatically ship it to you. Other than that they are a great deal.
