  1. Hey gang,

Curious...I uploaded my 16:9 widescreen footage from my Canon DV camcorder and select the avi video and encode to mpeg-2 16:9 and in advanced video properties it says the source is 4:3...is this right?

Oddly if I leave it as 4:3 and encode and burn to DVD it's perfect wide screen, and if I change the source to 16:9 it is still perfect wide screen footage.

    Just curious.

    Thanks,
    Lex

The DV-AVI will be 4:3. I don't think DV-AVI has an AR flag, and if it does, no one seems to take heed of it.

When you view the AVI (pre-encode) is it vertically stretched (or horozontally squashed) ?

  3. Humm...

When I view the pre-endode DV-AVI file in win media player it looks like a normal wide-screen shot. I would have thought that the source properties in TMPGenc or other apps. would specify its format, but I guess this is okay.

    Thanks,
    Lex
