I am looking for a program, that has this feature.

This little useful piece of software, allows me to reduce the size of a huge wmv movie to whatever size i want to reduce it. The problem is that Windows movie maker can only accept wmv files, but i want something that will work with mpeg.

    Is there such a software?

    Thanks

tmpgenc xpress or tmpgenc plus(using the wizard can you set the output size) and reconvert the mpeg1 or mpeg2.

or do you want to convert to wmv?

Every encoder ever made has this feature.

I don’t think so. Encoders that allow me to configure the exact output file size? I have tried a few with no luck. What if I had also said that I need a freeware program that can do that? Windows movie maker is freeware. How limited my options would be then? Anyway, I’m still downloading Baldrick’s recommendations. If they work, then I’m happy

TMPGEnc is freeware, and yes you can specify the output size with the wizard.

Procoder, CCE, and Mainconcept also let you specify output size... or at least bitrate, which is the same thing.

Also, Windows Movie Maker isn't "freeware", either - you paid $125 for a Windows license in order to get it.

However, you probably want to do VBR 2-pass, which will allow the program to more accurately hit the target size. Yeah, it might be off by a few megs, but such is life. Each pass makes it more accurate, but they're time-consuming. Or you could just do CBR, which will hit the target dead-on.

Canopus ProCoder 2 doesn't even have this feature.

I also tried tmpgenc plus, i imported a 1MB wmv file, and run the wizard, it wont let me make it smaller that 15MB.

Can anyone describe the procedure of reducing the file size to 1MB on any of the 2 software i already have?

With windows movie maker, i reduced the size of a 300MB wmv file, to 3MB in a few minutes. How do i do that with procoder or tmpgenc plus?

I couldn't get my hands on CCE, tmpgenc xpress and Mainconcept, but i'll find them, and we'll see if they have this feature.
