Let us say you are converting a VHS movie to DVD.

How far apart do you place your chapter points?

Or if someone knows...what is the standard length?

Is there a standard? I usually set them @ 10 minutes. If you should do it right, I'd say it's determined by scene changes and stuff, but who wants to go to all that trouble?

I guess that would be me.
I usually set the chapter points by specific scenes, but sometimes I specify the number of chapters I want and let TDA figure out how long they should be. Depends on the video.
But I've never set chapters by specifying a time interval.

Isn't that two ways to achieve the same thing? (Chapter points at fixed intervals.)

Depends. Sometimes they are simply to make shifting through quicker, so I'll just drop in 28 chapters at equal intervals and be done. If it is a special project or client work, they are individually placed.

Since I'm the only one who'll ever be viewing my own creations (TV caps et al.), for movie-length material I generally just tell TDA to set 10 points equi-distant from each other.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  7. For me, if I'm authoring a TV series, I place a chapter point at every segment change, so I end up with approx. 6 chapters for an hour long show.

It all depends on where you want chapter points in your projects.

Kind of, but what I meant is that I've never defined a time interval (like every 10 minutes), but that I've only specified the number of chapters I wanted. If you specify a time interval, the last chapter is bound to be smaller than the rest. I know, it doesn't matter, but I prefer symmetry.
