I'm new a this as I finally have my new computer that has a DVD burner. I've read around some and burned a few DVDs with no problem. I see a program called Title Set Blanker recommended so I gave it a shot. My question is, is there either a good guide to using it or could somone key me in as to how to tell what each item corresponds to? I see a list of the various ifo files and I have opened them and I see a list of Titleset videos and Titleset Menus for each one each listed as VTS_01_*.vob VTS_02_*.vob and so on. I opened the DVD files with DVD shrink and I can't seem to figure out what the listing in Title Set Blanker correspond to. I would like to remove things such as warnings and trailers at the beginning of a DVD but I have no idea how to find out which ones they are in TSB. Any help or link to a good guide is appreciated. Thanks

You might want to try VOBBlanker, which IMO is more flexible, and offers a preview windows so you can see exactly what you're blanking. Also there's a few good guides for it too.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Thanks I gave VOBBlanker a try and it's preview is very helpful. I was able to kill a few previews. The only problem is there is now 15 seconds of blankness at the start of the DVD while it's better than several previews I'd like to minimize that. Is there any way to shorten the blank scenes? I don't see anything like it in the settings.

Title Set blanker is easy to use. After you rip the DVD to your HD,open it in Explorer. Just double click the first vob in each VTS and you will see what each VTS set is and you can determine whether you want to keep it.
You can blank on HD copy and then open it in DVD Shrink or other transcoder.

Your experience is exactly what I remember going through when I first started backing up! I still like tltlesetblanker very much because it's very very easy to use, and instantaneous. The drawback is that it does not have a preview, and it only blanks full titlesets. Now if you're like I was, you don't know what a titleset is! Titlesetblanker (TSB) can blank three things:
    - video_ts.vob (the "video manager" at the top of the TSB window). Usually it's pretty safe to blank this, and it's common to have FBI warnings there.
    - vts_xx_0.vob (where xx is from 1 to 99), these are your menus for each VTS, on the right-hand side of TSB. Usually, it's not safe to blank them because they are menus, and blanking a menu can (usually does!) completely break the playback.
    - vtx_xx_n.vob (where n=1 to 9) those are your "title domains". The movie is in one of them, and so are (usually) previews trailers etc. It's safe to blank these, but don't blank the movie!

So. wulf109 gave you good advice. Double-click your title domain vobs (vts_01_1.vob etc) (or drag/drop it in something like PowerDVD) to see what's in them. The very large vob files are the movies, don't blank them. Don't blank any menu, and you can probably safely blank the video manager.

When you get more familiar with that, then move on to vobblanker, which is much more flexible (you can blank more precisely than full titlesets).

MenuShrink a free tool to shrink menus into stills with or without audio!
DVDSubEdit: a free tool to modify your subtitles directly inside the vob.
