  1. I have a need to dispose of a large satellite dish currently located in Mexico. I have not seen it, but understand it is 10-foot plus and motorized. It must be moved from its current location.

I have no idea if this has any significant value, and it would be difficult to transport back to the states.

Are there any individual pieces - receiver, LNA, etc. - worth saving, or is there anyone in the Guadalajara area who might be interested?

  2. I just saw a whole 10' setup in an ad yesterday for $125, dish, receiver and all. I've seen them cheaper than that recently too, they aren't worth much anymore. I spent $1900 plus another $400 for the digital sidecar on mine. The sidecar sells for more on e-bay than the whole setup.

From "ZAPPER'S BOOK OF REDNECK LIVING"

Line it with tin foil and turn it into a solar cooker (No kidding it really works great for hot dogs and such)

Point it straight up, fill it with water and call it a bird bath. (Our feathered freinds will enjoy it)

Turn it upside down, set it on blocks or old tires and call it a chicken/dog house

Put it on E-bay. Somebody somewhere wants it and will buy it.

    Good luck
IS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT?

  4. Thanks, folks, that tells me what I needed to know. Like the solar cooker idea, used to have one.

Sounds like it goes to the side of the road. If anybody happens to be in the area and wants it, it'll be torn down around June 10th. PM for details.

I took my old 10 ft dish, turned it up side down and made my mother a vine/flower/fountain umbrella type thing.

I had to weld in some supports and some edging but she loves it.

I'm canceling my "C" band subscription and was going to tear down my 10" dish and pole but decided to turn the dish over and weld it to the pole to make an umbrella out of it. Put a couple lawn chairs under it and relax out of the sun.

Have 2 lg dishes use 1 to receive in the clear channels. Works just fine for that. The other I was thinking of using to receive distant Hidef over the air uhf signals. I receive over the air hidef for NBCand CBS but the nearest ABC hidef signal is 100 miles away. the same for PBS . I live on a mountain so I do have a visual of the ABC, PBS mountain antenna. Haven't figured out how to receive the uhf signal yet but it sounds like an innovative use for the extra dish.

  9. With a ten inch dish you can get raw newsfeeds. Juicy stuff like americans shooting people that's usually cut from local news.

  10. Put it convex side down over a large campfire. Grab two oars and 5 gallons of cooking oil. Now you're all set to stir-fry for a large party...

  11. With a 4DTV receiver a c-band dish rocks. 65+ premium movie channels for less money than a mini-dish, with far better quality. Without 4DTV they are about useless.

  12. I just typed "C Band Tv" into google. There is tv packages still available. I haven't used my 10' Channel Master dish in years.

  13. With the proper plumbing I'd think you could rig up a cool "kiddy" water fountain play thingy.

    Semi marketable idea?
