  1. I have been trying out ffmpegX version by version as I see the versions released (missed 0.09r), I am waiting for a version that works for my purposes (ts and m2t source files), unfortunately with my tryout of version 0.0.9s; it looks like a problem has developed with ffmpegX.

First: the problem that I see with version 0.0.9s --- maybe 0.0.9r also, I don’t know, I don’t have it. I tried saving several recordings with 0.0.9s using several Video Codec & Audio settings, the files play OK on the Macintosh computer that created the files with, using QuickTime 6.5.2 as the player, but the files will not play back on any other computer I have tried --- all computers are configured the same (except they don’t have ffmpegX), nor will the same files recorded to CD play in my “Phillips DVP642 “ DVD player. Version 0.0.9q ffmpegX files created before and now (re-installed version 0.0.9q) play back on all computers that I have tried and my “Phillips DVP642 “ DVD player. I can understand a problem, bug, code break with ffmpegX 0.0.9s with the DVD player, but why would there be a problem with other Macs?

I have deleted the old installed files from my computer as directed on this forum … delete ffmpegX application and all folder contents, also deleted the ffmpegX application support folder in the Library. I have downloaded and installed the correct binaries per- version of ffmpegX (forward and backwards).

What I am waiting for in ffmpegX: I like to record digital TV broadcasts with my Macintosh via FireWire connection, VirtualDVS and iRecord, the files are saved in m2t and ts formats. No matter what combination of settings I use in ffmpegX, ffmpegX will not recognize the audio in these m2t & ts source files, the video works but not the audio.

I can trans-code the files using another program into a format that ffmpegX will work with, but I should not have to, nor do I want to. I am waiting for ffmpegX to work correctly with the ts & m2t source .[/b]

  2. This should improve with the subsequent versions of the libavcodec core, which takes care of the decoding of ts/m2t files.

  3. What program are you using to transcode the ones ffmpegX has problems with? And what capture device are you using to get the ts streams? Not that any of this info will help you, but I am in a similar situation with some ts streams that aren't compatible with anything besides VLC.

  4. I too had a lot of problems getting ffmpegX to encode .m2t files. One thing that worked for me was encoding them with ffmpeg instead of mencoder; the sound was recognized then. Unfortunately the video always went out of sync after about an hour, and some .m2t files still won't work. But it's worth a shot.

  5. jjvern:

You want ProjectX for this, I think. See
