sorry if this is not the right place for this question, but like i said ive tried other places and no luck....well basically my issue is with my digital camera, Fuji A330...i have installed necessary software that came with camera and i have been able to connect camera to pc using usb cable that came with camera and save pics to pc, no issues in device mgr....but when i try to use the web cam function in the camera, i get issue in device manager and in msn messenger...no web cam detected....new hardware wizard detects the camera as a web cam, but is unable to install the camera due to necessary software not being provided.....ive tried the fuji website and ive tried to update drivers and use the Microsoft Autoplay Repair Wizard that was recommended in the fuji website...still no luck....running xp home sp 1.....any help would be appreciated...thanks

  2. My Fuji has to be changed within the camera's menu to enable web cam. You didn't mention this- just asking.

i also need to change to the web cam mode within the camera menu as well.....i change mode in camera, turn camera off, then plug in with usb cable, turn camera back on and thats when i get the new hardware wizard and windows is not able to install camera...when i check device mgr, theres a '!' next to other devices/web camera...does your messenger detect your camera as a web cam???

  4. Well, can't say I've tried it. We already had a cheapo web cam my wife uses to visit her relatives in Peru. But from what I remember when I first got the camera was- the only way it works as a webcam is thru their FinePix pc-cam network and the included software! I think that's why I didn't try it. Know anybody on the FinePix network?? ......neither do I!

when the new hardware wizard pops up have you tried going forward with that and selecting the drivers you downloaded from fuji instead of letting windows automatically install?

thanks for the reply....when i try that, windows still doesnt recognize the file or is just not able to install it....but i dont get it, the only other driver available from the fuji website is just another USB driver....my camera connects fine when i have it in normal mode....i can take pics or film short vids, plug up with my usb cable that came with camera, and save files to pc....windows detects camera fine in normal mode.....probs start when i switch to Web Cam mode.....i get error in dvice mgr.....i dont see why there is not some kind of driver that is more related to the web cam function....the more and more things i try and do not seem to work are just making me wonder that maybe there is something wrong with the camera itself....and not just some driver issue....good thing i bought the warranty for camera, gonna see if i can exchange it for a new one.....ive even tried emailing Fuji tech support, but still no reply.....maybe they dont have a fix for this and it just might be an issue with the camera........thanks again for reply

Not knowing this particular camera , and not knowing if you have sp2 installed , this might be something considering as sp2 dose contain many drivers , esspecailly the usb2 drivers which ms dosent licence out too other developers .

The fugi my brother bought had a similar issue , and near useles software , but the sp2 gave it life and all is well .
