Hi,
Please can any of you expert technicians out there help me to find a compatible format to playback on a DXG DVC301 video camera.
It encodes to mpeg4 as an ASF file.
My problem is files I have encoded to mpeg4 are not recognized by the camera after I have transferred them to the SD card in the camera - it acts as a usb storage device also.
Film recorded on the camera deleted and then brought back onto the card are seen again and playback with no problems.
Maybe it records into some weird proprietry version thats impossible to duplicate?
I hope I can upload a small jpeg to show a camera files output as shown in Xilisoft Video Coverter software:-
I bought this camera for my daughter for about £60 and it really is great fun. It takes good 3MP pictures and smooth CIF video onto SD memory cards. If I can I would like to transfer a few film clips to the camera so that my daughter can use it as a video player.
Thanks for any advice offered.
Barry Webber.
A quick update....
I just transferred another clip encoded by Boilsofts ASF Converter and it was recognised by the camera as a video clip but would't playback sadly
I feel that DXG must adhere to some standard mpeg4 format of some type and it must be possible to duplicate this for clips not made with the camera itself.
BW.

I feel your pain, seriously I too have one of these littles camera's. Mine's the 305v, got it at Radio Shack thinking I could use it for playing back video I would record on my computer. I still have not tried FFmped but I guess I will.
Have you had any luck getting playback?

Another stab at it,.
This time I found that the codec is the Microsoft Mpeg-4 version 1 codec (M4S2) 320x240 4:3, 1.74mbps.
Audio is 32kb/s, 4 bit, 8 hz in IMA ADPCM.
Using FlaskMPG .954 I could get the video codec but not the audio codec to render a finished .asf file. And it still didn't play in the camera. It played fine in WMP or VLC .081. I do feel like i'm an inch closer to finding the key.
I think I'll try just working on the video alone to sort this out.
Have you had any luck?

Thanks for your input UncleBud,
I am still no closer to obtaining imported file playback but I have n't given up hope and am still working on it.
DXG really ought to offer help with this as it would be be a great selling feature for their cameras which are already great value for money.
It must be possible to do this, come on forum experts please give us some highly skilled assistance on this.
Best wishes,
Barry Webber.
