  1. All,

Does anyone know what encoders the ADS Instant Deluxe USB and PCI products use? I've got an ADS Instant DVD 2.0 and have been very happy capturing from my TiVo, but want something with a tuner in it now so I can capture straight to the PC the first time. If these use the same or similar encoder then they've got a buyer here. <grin>

Thanks for any information you can give me.

  2. I called ADS today and they said it was a Cirrus Logic encoder but didn't have the part number.

When first press release was posted at thier site it read as if the TV card was going to be hardware encoder based on same chipset as IDVD-2, and like you I would have been a buyer.

My understanding though is that it is a software encoder so don't expect the same quality as from your IDVD.

Instead I bought the Compro VideoMate usb Live. The IDVD-2 and VideoMate are living in harmony in my system. Have just been to lazy to re-do all the cables and such to just use the VideoMate. Besides I like the DTD featue of capqiz 3.5

  4. THey have 2 versions of the Instant TV PCI/USB products and my understanding is that the Deluxe versions have the hardware encoders.
