Hi my friend has a Tevian TEV-2600, and yesterday he was trying to fix the colour on it so he went to setup and changed it to have component output (the three video lines for output) and now the picture disappeared and we can't bring it back, i don't know anyone who has component input all we have to do is change it back to YUV output but we can't do it blindly, does anyone know if we can reset it somehow i unplugged it for a long time but it didn't help.
thank you
Bilal

I did somthing Like this Once,Had to unplug it for hours. How long did you leave it unpluged? try leaving it over night.

i left it unplugged for about an hour, but now it's been unplugged since yesterday i'll try it when i get back home tonight. it reminded me of an incident where this guy changed the language on his phone and couldn't change it back so he had to take it to the shop where they had one like it and followed the menu step by step
thanks

You said you don't know anyone with a component input on their TV. Almost any decent TV made in the last 4 or 5 years that is 27" or larger has a component input. If you are CERTAIN you don't know anyone with a TV with Component Inputs, just take it into a local retailer and use one of their TVs, or take it to a TV repair shop and pay the guy 5 bucks to use one of his TVs for 30 seconds.

If it is set to interlace compnent 480i then you can view Y (monochrome) on any composite RCA input.
If you are switched to progressive, probably the case, you need a progressive TV (EDTV or HDTV) or blindly go through the menus. Call support. They should have a reset code. -
I've used the techinque edDV described many times when updating my Momistsu V880's firmware which always caused the player to default back or whenever I made a "boo boo" on a new player. Hopefully if the player is in progressive mode, there is an I/P (interlaced/progressive) or similar on the remote. It's a long shot but some do. Most that are multi-region have N/P or P/N instead to toggle video systems (NTSC/PAL).
Also, I've been able to "bring back" a player by repeating the setup moves of the remote without anything on the screen. After several tries I got it to work and considered myself very lucky. Talk about a lesson learned. -
This is why some players have a switch on the back instead of changing in the menus... :P

i finally fixed it, first i called a friend of mine who has a big tv he told me he had component in so i took it there and tried it but it gave me a very bad picture it just went everywhere, we tried for a while but couldn't get it to work, then i thought of going to a shop that sells tv's and try it there, but then today i thought i'll try plugging it into my video capture card in my computer, which i should have done from the begining so it worked i could see a black and white half picture which was enough for me to go into setup and choose the right output, i am glad it's over.
