  1. I brought six mono files (3 front, 2 rear, one LFE) into Audition and designated each one to a specific channel. I burned the 1-min file to DVD with a black video running. However, upon playback:

    - No sound came from the right surround speaker
    - No sound cam from the right front speaker
    - The subwoofer seemed to be playing one of the other tracks, and not the LFE track

I know bass from other channels sometimes bleeds into the sub, so that doesnt bother me. But why is it that two of the channels didnt play any sound? Is this because DVDs can only handle 4 channel PCM tracks or something?

Id appreciate anyone's help, and thanks in advance.

I thought PCM was only stereo or 2 channel mono. Use AC3 for multichannel surround. You will get perfect compatability if you use a licensed encoder, and it will take up less than a third of the space.

  3. Well it certainly came out of more than two speakers, lol. I do currently use AC3 but Im wanting to experiment with PCM.

Are you sure your AMP didn't just spread it around in a matrix. I know mine will apply a DPLII matrix to any stereo source.

  5. You have to turn my DPLII on manually, so no it wasnt that. It was surround sound, albeit with a few errors

Some checking shows that you can, theoretically, have up to 8 channels in an LPCM stream, however I have never seen any disks using more than 2 because of the outrageous amount of space required to do more. Which leaves me to wonder if your amp is able to correctly present multi-channel LPCM output, or if Premiere is able to correctly encode it ?
