I just bought a new PS2 (slim and small design) yesterday from Gamestop. I also bought a used FFX game and a new FFX-2 game. I tested both of them and the video freezes some time before or after the introduction movie (the video freezes but the audio continues). I have tried putting the console horizontally and vertically in an open area, even near a fan. But it still freezes. Is there a way I can solve this problem? Or would it be better if I got the old PS2 version? If so, where can I buy that old version in new condition?

Not that I visit alot of PS2 sites but as long as even the new games are doing it I would assume you just got a bad one. I'd go exchange the PS2 for another.

I went to the store and they tested it out (they had to go to the stock room whereas I had to wait so I couldn't see their testing) and they came back many minutes later and told me no problems. I guess I will refund and then go to another store to buy another one. They say they can't exchange it unless they find problems with it.

But man, a bad one on my first purchase with my own money. What bad luck!

Weird policy, they'll let you get a refund and buy another one, but not exchange it.

I meant that I make a refund and go buy it at another store.
