  1. Is it possible to make the the recording quality better with ffmpegx.

I copy my old VHS tapes into my Elgato eyetv as DVD or DV format !!!
Then i whant it to fit on a 4,7 GB DVD in the best quality as possible...

The old VHS recordings are bad/noice picture ect. !!! is it possible to make it better. Also what will be the best format to record in (DVD / DV).

  2. You could hire the people that cleaned up the master of star wars but that'll take a few months and a few fortunes.

Jokes aside, Use DV, because DVD (i.e. mpeg-2) is a compression, while DV is better quality (but obviously for more space). So if you can afford the space requirements then use DV, and then make your choice of iMovie -> iDVD or ffmpegX, or ffmpegX -> Sizzle, or ffmpegX -> iDVD.

  3. Yes - but i want to know if some of the filters in ffmpegx can clean my VHS tapes, for better quality !!!

Or is there some other cleaning software for this !!!
    Whitout costing 1000 usd.

  4. It depends from the amount of noise. Try the "Denoise" filter, otherwise you will need specialized software.
