I have an NEC 3500 and 3520 installed on my pc. They burn dvds fine but when I try to copy cds, they reset themselves and the burning process is aborted. I've gone into the properties of both drives and enabled cd burning for both but after failing a burn and checking the properties again, the "enable cd burning" box is unchecked. I'm running Win XP on a 1.8ghz p4 and the two programs I've tried are alcohol 120% and Nero. What am I missing?

My Nec 2500 does not like some brands of CD's. Have you tested different brands?

Wasn't a media problem. Thanks though. I got it to work.

How did you get it to work? If it's not too embarrassing.Originally Posted by B2D327
The only problem I've had with my NEC3500 burning CDs was when it fell back to PIO mode after I tried ripping a scratched disk.

It turned out to be a conflict with the IMAPI service in XP and Nero's software. I disabled IMAPI and it works fine now.
