  1. I am running Win 98 SE (fat 32). I am going to encode a DVD NTSC mpeg file that will end up being over the 4G limit. This is fine for the DVD but not for Win 98. Other than splitting the file or moving to XP or 2000, is there another work around?

  2. Well buddy, since you are encoding, you really do not want the file size no larger than 2gb.
After 2gb, it becomes unusable, at 4 gb, the system causes an error, or just auto deletes it.

Anyway, the only thing i can tell u at this point as i can think of is this-
In tmgpenc, set it wo where u make 3 files about 1.8 gb a piece.
Now since i do not think tmpgenc can do this manually, use this strategy and it will tell u how much to encode at one time. Remeber, you will have to be using source range in advanced tab of settings 3 times since u will have 3 mpgs.
Divide the total time by 3. Then at each of those intervals, you will be using source range to encode at that time frame.
Doing 3 will give u an estimate of around 1.6 gb if u are filling up the total cd at 4.7 gb.

Everyday is another payday and I am one step closer to becoming the one.

  3. I capture in 1.8G segments using AVI_IO and frameserve to TMPGEnc with VirtualDub. Every frame is a keyframe with the avi files which makes cutting easy. I have never had a problem with files over 2G < 4G ( avi open dml, dv type 1/2) as long as I did not try to copy/move them. With the DVD authoring progam I am using combining multiple mpeg segments on the DVD will reuslt in a pause between each segment which is what I am trying to avoid.
