  1. SO i had this movie and I added subtitles. I imported a .srt file and used dvdlab to generate a sub file. Everything looks fine before I compile it, but when I play the movie, subtitles don't show up. I can turn the subtitles on, and it says they are on. But they still don't show up. At first I thought it might be a problem with the chapters. But I checked and made sure none of the subtitles were across chapter points. It seems everything is working fine except the subtitles never appear.

I suggest you buy Sony DVD Architect. It works perfectly and besides, making and setting up subtitles correctly with Sony is very easy if compared to other apllications.

  3. hmmm, I guess I can try it. DVD lab did a lot of other stuff pretty well though. that sub title thing pisses me off.

Been authoring 3 DVDs with DLP recently, using .srt subs as source no problem. Even set them to default on, and it works as it should.

Same here. I use DVD Decrypter or ReJig to demux video and audio, SubRip to get the subtitle stream as an 'SRT' file from Indian movies. Then I use Subtitle Workshop to do some editing and add subtitles where they're missing. I've also added subtitles to interviews and awards shows recorded from TV. DVD Lab Pro does a great job of putting it all back together.

Have you tried changing the margins in the subtitle definition box? Maybe they're so low on the screen they're getting cut off by overscan.

  6. the margins? hmm, that may be the problem. I never thought of it. I know I've had problems with others stuff being to low. I'll have to see.

Yeah, DLP works great, except for this one little problem. It has to be something dumb like the margins, because everything else works so smoothly.
