Hm, dunno if it's been posted before, probably has, couldn't find it with the search function though. Anyway.
Is there a way to make my switched menus less "slow". I mean when you switch between two menus (changing the highlighted button for example) it takes about 2 seconds before it actually switches. Any way to solve this or should I just accept the fact?

I have commercial disks (eg. Warner cartoon disks) that have switched menus and some of these are slow as well. Factors in speed of switched menus

    1. Player
    2. Size of menu
    3. Player
    4. Authoring program creating efficient disk structure
    5. Player
    6. Player

As you can see, not a lot of it is under your control

try not to use motion menus or motion buttons, or even menu transitions. That might help if work a little better...
