Are there any experiances with burning Video's at 4x. Or is it as a standard better to burn at 2x
    sorry for being human,
it appears NOT to be a common mistake

  2. 4x is fine for DVDs, provided you use decent media. I have quite a few that are burned at 8x and they are perfect - I used MCC-dye discs.

I have the same burner and firmware as you and the burner as you know is max'd at 4x. I burn more + than - media. I have 100 spindle +R Kodak 8x that will only burn at 2.4x. These discs play just fine but won't burn faster. Most of my other plus discs rated at 4x or 8x all burn at 4x and I have yet to have a problem with any of them. My experience with -R is a bit different. I have discs rated at 8x and sometimes they burn at 2x and other times the same ones burn at 4x. I don't rely on what nero reports because it always shows the -R discs as burning at 4x but those that take around 30 minutes I know are really 2x. The ouput is always fine though and all my players (computer and standalone) read the discs with no issues.
My conclusion is that the burner seems to adjust the speed to the media to ensure a good burn so if it accepts 4x I burn it that way. I'm always happy with the results.

I burn almost everything at 4X and have had no complaints with my resulting DVD's.
    I mainly use + media
tho, my burner will only do RW at 2X
and for some weird reason, it freaks out and locks my PC up when I try to burn at 2.4X (tho I don't care since it does such a fine job at 4X)
