  1. i backed up some home videos from vhs to dvd-r with a standalone dvd recorder (pioneer dvr-225). since the pioneer only gave me 9 menu choices, i had to choose one of the 9 menus available.

i just bought a dvd burner for my comp. i want to edit out some of the video/audio that i transferred from vhs to the dvd-r with my standalone dvd recorder. also, i want to redo the menu by inserting a picture of my choice in the background of the menu screen. and add other features to the menu screen, if any.

can someone tell me how all these can be done? thanks

Your asking way to much, sorry. Your asking a multipart DVD question, to much to explain.
    Quality is my policy.

    Here's one way:
Copy the DVD-R back to MPEG using this guide. Edit with Womble MPEG-VCR (or any other MPEG editor). Author using your favorite authroing software, and create your own menu.

    Another way:
Use DVDShrink in reauthor mode and the start/end feature to isolate the part(s) you want, output to Hard Disk Folders (VIDEO_TS folder), then go stright to your authoring software and arrange clips as required and create your menus (TMPGEnc DVD Author can accept VOB titlesets).

There's probably a couple of other ways also.
    If in doubt, Google it.
