  2. I would hazard a guess that the 1st part contains some error or corruption that a player can skip over but TmpGenc cannot. This is not uncommen.

To fix it, you could try de-multiplex/re-multiplex, this some times works.
If not use Tmpgenc's source range feature to encode up to the frame before the error, then skip one or two frames and encode the rest. Join together the two results and you will be left with hopefully just a minor glitch!

  3. i don't know what de-multiplex/re-multiplex means, i've never done it before......so i could try the tmpegnc way , but would you be able to walk me through it step by step i have never done anything like this before.if a starting point would be at 5 min. that's where it freezes where would a end point be, because it freezes the rest of the way.

de-multiplex. Seperate the audio and video into seperate files. Use Tmpgenc, File->Mpeg tools, simple de-multoplex option.

re-multiplex. Join the audio and video back together. Again, Tmpgenc->mpeg tools, simple multiplex (make sure the header type is correct, eg VCD). Then re-encode as before and see if it hangs at the same place. If it does (hang) make a note of the frame number on Tmpgenc's display. Then use Tmpgencs source range feature (settings->advanced IIRC). Start at frame 0, end at 1 frame before the problem frame No. Encode this section. Then do a 2nd pass starting at 1 frame after the problem frame, finishing on the last frame. If this still hangs, advance the start frame 1 at a time until it no longer fails.
