Loosing Sound sync in TEMPGENC Plus 2.5

I am having problems with the sound going out of sync when converting AVI files to MPEG using TEMPGENC Plus 2.5 The way I do it is below which usualy works fine even it is a bit complicated

1) I start of with the AVI file (usualy DIvx) and I decompress the audio using AVI Audio Decompressor 1.4

2) I then use VirtualDubMod 1.5.1.1.a and use full processing mod with DIVX 5.2.1 codec

3) Then I use TEMPGENC Plus 2.5 to givr me the MPEG file using the wizard setings

The sound is in syc in parts 1 & 2 but out of sync in 3. Has anyone any suggestions what is wrong

Audio sync issues seem pretty common when attempting to join parts of a video together. So far I have not seen a good answer to the problem, other than to encode the parts seperately, then author them as a single title in tmpgenc DVD author.

Sorry if I didn't make it clear, this is not joining AVI's together just converting to MPEG

Ahh - it was the last sentence that threw me. I use Virtualdubmod to extract the audio to uncompressed wav, then use vegas to create the 2.0 AC3 files for authoring. Never had a sync problem using this method.

I looked on my Virtualdubmod and could not find a audio section.
I have used Virtualdub to extract the audio but I haven't used Vegas.
How would I get the 2.0 AC3 files for authoring and then what programs would I use then ( sorry for all these daft questions ).

Just incase anyone is still following this thread, I solved this problem by using DCD2SVCD. This uses TEMPGENC but does all sorts of fancy things & just spits out the files ready to burn using NERO or something similar. I have tried 4 different AVI files & all have worked fine. It takes a few hours to convert an AVI but I just let it run overnight

Why did you recompress your avi? Every compression causes quality loss and possibly is the source of your sync problem.
