Hi!
There is something I don't understand about interlaced and non-interlaced video, as I understand it, interlaced video is for my TV set and non-interlaced (which is associated with progressive scan) is for my computer. But if I have a stand-alone DVD player with progressive scan connected to my TV, should I choose interlaced or non-interlaced?![]()
Thanks!

Hi Fallen_angel,
If the end product is destined for TV, irrespective of players etc., then the source and encoding should be interlaced as that's how the TV displays it.There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.

Hi-
Is your TV set also Progressive (HDTV)?. If so, then you choose to output 480p, as the "deinterlacers" in most all Progressive Scan DVD players are better than those in the HDTVs.
If your TV is a standard 4:3 interlaced TV set, then you don't use the Progressive Scan, and output 480i.
Oh, you were asking about how to encode? Then nevermind. -
Good point. I didn't consider HDTVs.

I highly doubt my school has a HDTV, so it won't be a problem. Thanks! =)
