It doesn't get any easier than this for turning your VHS tapes, etc. to DVD

  3. Nothing new here. You can get a stand alone dvd recorder and a PC dvd burner for less $$$ than this thing.

  4. That's been out since late last year.
From what I've heard it's a nice unit with minimum authoring options for menus and chapters. The size is nice.

  5. This one has dual function:
    1) standalone DVD recorder (DL), but does not seem to be able to play DVD disc to view on a TV ???
    2) USB2 external DVD burner (DL)
    Do I miss something ?

    I have one.
It fills a specific purpose: Recording DVD's in the field.

I shoot video at different locations everyday. I don't want to lug around a big home recorder. This unit works great for that purpose. Not having any video output is a drag though. No way to play back your recording unless you connect it to a laptop, even then you can only playback after recording. Can't monitor while recording.

The discs are editable using the ILO recorders (possibly LiteOn's as well, since they're made by the same company).

I'm sure the next version will have that feature.
And the HP version cannot record w/o a computer connected.
    I don't have a bad attitude...
