  2. The easiest way is to just author as-is.
    No "conversion" needed.
    DVDLab.
    Load both mpg's.
Change the Firstplay link to go to the first movie, bypassing the ROOT VTS.
Right click in Projects, add movie.
Put the second half in there.
Link movie 1 to movie 2.
Open Menu 1, and on the MAP tab, set timeout to A/V.
    Compile, burn.

use VCDGear to rip your .mpg files
drop them into TMPGEnc DVD Author

that's the simplest method I can think of (assuming you have those programs)
    VCDGear is FREE!
    TMPGEnc is NOT.........
i don't know if this will work with other authoring programs, as I have only used TMPGEnc's authoring

I don't think SVCD resolution will work on a dvd, i know vcd will drop right into TMPGEnc DVD Author but.....

Or if you really want to burn the svcd mpg file on a dvd that works on standalone dvd players then make a "dvd-svcd", use dvd-lab and add the svcd. done. But this is not a compliant dvd...it may not work on alllllllllllllll players.

    Wrong for DVD-Video

DVD-Video = a DVD with video on it
Lots of specs, but none of the SVCD stuff works here.

    Not the same.

Convert the video and make it a real DVD.

Or dump the incorrect SVCD MPEG2 on a DVD by patching the headers and/or using authorware that is not true-to-spec

Lots of guide, and lots of reading to be done for any of this. It's not as easy as hitting the "go" button somewhere.

  5. thanks for the tips guys but all those apps cost $$$ i was looking for a easy cheap way. i don't mind having to do a complete re-encode

  6. If you have Nerovision Express, it will convert, let you make menus and stuff, as well as burn.
The free tmpgenc will let you merge the two as one file, in mpeg tools.
ReJig will author the mpg to dvd.
VSO divx to dvd will take both files and join them and convert to dvd. (it's free, and probably the easiest)
It SAYS it will only do one file at a time, but if you open the box to select your file, hilight the SECOND one, then hold down the ALT key, and select the FIRST one, it will join and convert.

  7. i tried VSO and i had it select the two files(yes, i'm sure it selected both) and it said 60 min. to complete well after 30 min it stopped, i was like ok? so i try it again nd it seemed to do both files into one. now what i am left with is a vob file to be burned, so i pop it in nero and drag the vob into the video folder and burn, nero is squaking about it not compliant so i burn anyways and now lets say i have to get a screw driver and butter knife to get the disc out my cheap player. Was there something in the conversion that was not donw right? or is this what is does? make a 1/2 compliant dvd that %50 might work? on the options i used 16:9 and force ntsc.

  8. the easiest way is Ulead. it's about 50$ and will convert, add menues and more in a couple of steps.
don't tkink there is any free stuff to do this.
AND you have to encode it again, diferent specs for dvd, if you want to make sure it works an all dvd players.

If this is JUST for you, you can certainly TRY the SVCD-DVD approach, it's quicker and "relatively" lossless.

However, if it's for you and then maybe to use at your in-laws place or something, then you need to resize, resample, etc.

  10. gurm...whee about in MA are you?? i'll just come over and you can show the process. my friend talked me into getting dvdlab (i like what it can do for creating dvd's), is this possible to do the convert with dvdlad pro? what specs should this be converted with 16:9 and ntsc 29fps? all i want to do is put the svcd disc in, copy the aqs01(whatever) to the HD, convert both parts as one for that mofo, and burn as dvd. VSO seems to work but it was not compliant.

I tend to use Mainconcept to do encoding, but there are plenty of tools. TMPGEnc, etc.

DVDLab might very well do what you want, I haven't played with it a lot, but you're not looking to AUTHOR, you're looking to CONVERT.

    I live just offcape.
