DVDx audio problems

I'm trying to use Alphonics guide on DVDx ripping to VCD. I use all the settings he specifies. The resulting mpg has audio that cuts out every few seconds. I even ripped the dvd files first and worked with those after searching for this issue on the forum.

I was able to rip a different dvd fine...though I did have to change a setting: for deinterlace filter I had to set it to Interpolate. I don't even know what that means, but as the last option it worked in getting rid of the squiggly lines when stuff moved.

Anyone know what I can do about the audio issue though?

I'm using DVDx 2.3 to convert DVD(I rip the vob files using SmartRipper) to VCD and I also encountered this problem. Is there any quick fix to this?
